Lifes' Artistry with Donna Downey : Mixed Media Scrapbooking

In this workshop, you will learn techniques and tips for creating an eight page 8x10 mixed media scrapbook.  The book si comprised of multi-surface and textured pages that may surprise you.  The use of color, fabrics, papers, moments captured and artistic style art journaling make it unique and truly individualized to each student.

Supplies: Apron, painting towel/rag - it will get messy!, 1" paint brush, small detail brush for watercolor (about a size 7 round brush), glass jar, mug or brush bucket (for holding dirty brushes), box cutter (optional - used to distress the cardboard edges), 5 pages of book text, roll of 1" masking tape, craft/fabric glue, black India ink - recommend: Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Inks, large spray bottle (to spray for water drippage), black Stazon ink pad, antique linen distress ink and applicator tool, rubbing alcohol (cleans the pen nib between uses), baby wipes if you are messy!, watercolor paints, crayons or pans - recommend: Windsor and Newton, fabric scissors, liquid scrap dots or pop dots, 12-15 photos (optional, but recommended - mix of wallet sized and 4x6s).

The workshop everyone asked Donna to create and EVERYONE has been wanting to take at Remember When is finally here.  Filled with flowers and color you will learn the basic techniques of drippage, layering textures as well as color to create your own wearable apron art piece. 
 
Supplies: Iron + ironing surface, fabric glue (helmar 450 quick dry), spray bottle, heat gun, towel to clean up water drippage, apron to wear (optional).

NEW PRODUCT: Webster's Pages & Melissa Frances


Greetings all!! We just received the much anticipated Webster's Pages paper lines, Hollywood Vogue, Waiting For Santa and Wonderfall. We also have THE most GORGEOUS trim ever. They never fail us with there beautiful ribbon's. The so hot we cant keep them on the shelves Bloomer's ribbon. New colors and YES we will be reordering so if you don't get a chance to get some, we have more on the way. We have new Sparklers as well. The Vintage Netting is sure to get your creative juices flowing and definitely a opportunity to try something new.


We also received in new Vintage Resin embellishments from Melissa Frances. I love these, you can paint them, alter the color or just leave them as is. " A Haunt Of A Tale Boxed Album Class "
Join Nicole and make this wickedly fun boxed album. We will not only make a mini album, but you will also have a decorated box to store it in. All Hallows Eve will be on display for all to see. We will be using several of the new Tim Holtz Textures and Dies. You will play and learn how to use Flower Soft, Distressing Powders and Stickles. Don't be a scaredy cat this class is not frightful or difficult. Call the store for your reservation or better yet come in the store and take a look first hand at this hauntingly fun class.

Supplies Required: Strong adhesive (Zipdry or Beacons), scissors,paper trimmer, glue dots, pop dots/dimensional tape, basic grey sand files for sanding down edges, black journal pen, Signo white pen, Sakura Stardust pen, black/charcoal chalk.

Join Marah Johnson in a fast paced technique driven class. We will explore over 24 techniques, tips and tricks that you can adhere into your designer notebook. This notebook is meant to become a tool in your studio. to give a hands on visual of what products look like when used in different applications. We will explore, inks, mists,paint daubers and dabbers. Wood papers by Creative Imaginations, Luminarte twinks and daubers, Stencils, masks and more Flocked papers and stickers, and how to take them out of the box. Foils and adhesives...felts and paints (yes in that combo even) We will find the *super* in Super Seal, and put it to the test. We will also explore various adhesives and there uses beyond what the manufacturer suggests.

You will leave with a note book filled with great ideas, samples and notes
students are suggested to bring products they have questions about as well.

Upcoming Crops...

Hello everyone! I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to this weekend's Save the Tatas event where we are raising money for the Susan G Komen Fight for the Cure. As women, we are all affected by breast cancer. Whether it is ourselves, or someone we love, fighting the battle. We invite you, even if you are not cropping, to come join us on Saturday. We'll be donating 10% of our sales that day. We will also be having silent auctions and raffles that you can participate in to help raise money.

We're asking for hand-made items as donations for these events - thank you to those that have already donated! If you would like to donate, simply drop your project off at the store. We will also have a mini-album by Marion Smith (it is gorgeous!!) and an autographed book from Tim Holtz among the items available for silent auction. It is going to be a special event and I look forward to sharing the day with you.

Okay, drumroll please!! On this Sunday, September 19th at 12:00 noon, we are opening registration for our next two crops, the Trick or Treat Crop and the Anniversary Crop. We're changing how we do things a little bit and I just want to give y'all a heads up. First of all, we will be processing in-store signups before we answer the phone for crop signups. Also, the maximum spots that one person will be able to purchase is four spots. We appreciate you understanding these changes and we can't wait to share our future events with you!

Trick or Treat Crop : October 16, 2010 - 8 a.m. - midnight - $35
I love Halloween... the costumes, the fanfare, pranks and treats! It's all good and all fun! Join us as we break out for a Halloween celebration Remember When style! We'll be having a costume contest (you heard it!!) lunch, games & prizes, a fun project, make & takes, 10% off all regularly priced merchandise. We're going to be doing an embellishment swap at this crop. If you would like to participate, make up 5 embellishment bags that each have in it 1 yard of ribbon, 10 buttons or brads, and one thing that will make us smile and ooh and ahh! Put your name on each bag and put those bags in a large ziplock bag that has your name on it. Bring it to RW the day of the crop and we will swap for you and give you each back your bag of treats! Registration opens this Sunday!

If it is after the cancellation period, you will receive a full refund if a replacement can be found. All refunds are in the form of store credit.

The Shop Hop was a great success. It was wonderful to meet so many scrappers from all over Southern California. CHA is over and all the goodies are pouring into the store.
